P.I.L.L. Rules of Thumb

1. Pond Rule of Thumb # 1

   NEVER add untreated tap water to an operating aquarium. Always ensure all chlorine or chloramine has been neutralized before it can contact any live fish. Follow the instructions on your chosen water conditioner carefully. Remember most preparations are labelled for US gallons.

2. Pond Rule of Thumb # 2

   Never feed your fish more than they can devour in TWO minutes with none of it hitting the bottom. Remember, catfish, unless they are large, do not need to be fed specially. They are scavengers in the wild and will generally ignore flake food, even if they swim right through it on their journeys. If flakes or other foods hit the bottom, they will be wasted, they will decay and they will cause ongoing problems for the health of your fish. Return to P.I.L.L. Home Page
